‘AS-BUILT’ BIM MODELS
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is fundamentally changing the way the construction industry works. BIM is a term used to describe a digital model of a building that holds data about its function. The BIM model is used as a shared knowledge resource for all information about a building and can be used throughout its life cycle to drastically increase productivity and efficiency.
BIM is often associated with new builds and the design process, however the Scan to BIM industry is growing rapidly across the construction industry. It provides a faster, more accurate, more comprehensive method for capturing survey data critical for refurbishment or retro-fitting existing projects.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) covers geographical information, geometric and spatial relationships, building component properties and facilities management.
The UK Government has embarked on a collaborative BIM initiative with industry so that by 2016, all publicly funded projects will be BIM compliant.
Modelling Architecture specialises in 3d digital documentation in formats that can be integrated by end user clients.
